Letters to the School
from the Head Teacher
Dear Parents,

Here at Sharjah International British School we understand that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make. You want your child to have the best start in life. We believe every child needs to have access to an education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also on social integration. Without academic excellence we cannot achieve our potential and without social integration we are not fit for the outside world. We see our responsibility at Sharjah British School as carefully honing both these very important attributes.
We understand that a child needs to learn in an environment where they feel comfortable and safe. Therefore we give attention to each student to understand them and to alleviate pressures that could be a distraction to them.

At Sharjah British International School we emphasise the importance of being “One Family ”. We emphasise to the students that we don’t have nationality, neither do we have skin colour or language or religion. When we come to the school we are the Sharjah British Family. Each child quickly understands that love and respect for one another are some of the most important ingredients that need to be developed in life. Teachers in the school work on being friends as well as educators to make sure that the environment is friendly and conducive to a learning environment.

During the next year we will be embracing the American System, and running it in parallel with the CIE British system that has become the bedrock of SBIS. This will offer students the option to study at American universities here in the UAE or anywhere in the world. There will be new infrastructure and new learning technologies brought online in 2013-14. This is a hugely exiting time in the life of SBIS and I am looking forward to sharing it with my academic family.

At SBIS our aim is:

.. to offer the very best of International Education and to afford every student the opportunity to reach their potential.

Finally, at Sharjah British International School we have an “Open Door Policy”. We understand that you may have questions and need to see for yourself where little Laila or Abdullah will be sitting. Having an open door policy in the school means that both now and in the future you are free to come and discuss and take part in the progress of your child so that you can rest assured that the decision you have made is the right one. In addition we now have social media links on the front page where you can keep up to date with the achievements of the school and get the latest news. Please like or follow us and feel free to use the technologies to ask any questions you might have.

Kindest regards
